Next time you decide to give your car some extra bling, make sure you check how much that new set of mag wheels is adding to its weight.According to the marketing manager at Yokohama Tyre Australia, Christian Hansen, each extra kilogram of wheel weight is equivalent to three to four kilograms of cabin weight."Magazines are littered with pages of cheap, heavy and poorly made wheels, which are more likely to reduce a car's performance due to rotational inertia, amongst other things," he says. "Some large 'bling wheels' can be three or four kilos heavier than the standard wheel, making your car feel like you have an extra passenger.Yokohama is providing the tyres for a new lightweight range of wheels from Japanese tuning house ADVAN.
